[REVIEW] Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre – Finding the 5 Best Hotels in Abbotsford

Published by:

Finding the Best Hotels in Abbotsford, BC:

This article is a first-hand experience review of the Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre in search for the Best Hotels in Abbotsford.

Of course when searching for the best hotels in any city, there can be many definition to the “best hotels in Abbotsford”; you might be looking for the best luxury hotels in Abbotsford, the best hotels in Abbotsford for families, the best pet-friendly hotels in Abbotsford, or the best value hotel in Abbotsford. Hence, in our best hotels in Abbotsford guide, we’ll highlight the relevant category that may qualify it as the “best hotel in Abbotsford”.

Generally however, when you’re searching for the best hotels in city on Google, you’re likely looking for the best luxury/boutique Hotel in a city or the best cheap hotel in a city… more appropriately the best value hotel in a city. In which case, the Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre may well be what you’re looking for. The Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre positions itself as a 3.5-star hotel in Abbotsford with comprehensive amenities including a fitness centre, a business centre, and a pool along with a hot tub. Importantly (and excitingly) it also has a complementary full breakfast with your stay (arguably one of the highlights of staying at a hotel – there are many who may even visit a hotel restaurant for their breakfast buffet without booking a stay as many of the best breakfast buffets in a city are often found at upscale/luxury hotel restaurants). They also offer very functional and modern rooms with a wide variety of room-types and preferences allowing you the option to choose. (For example, besides offering the standard two-queen and king configuration, they also have multi-bedroom suites for families and kitchenette rooms. However, with their king configuration – they have rooms with hardwood flooring or carpet flooring. Hardwood flooring is generally better hygiene and cleaner whereas carpet flooring provides for better noise insulation and a cozy feel – but make sure to wear your socks in your room.)

Importantly, the service is attentive and responsive. Customer service is a big component in, well, the service industry. It is even more crucial in the hospitality and travel industry – guest experience comes down to not only the hard products (whether be it the hotel room, hotel facilities, or airline seat) but the soft product (which is the service such as professionalism, friendliness, attention to details, willingness to serve your customers, and on the upscale/luxury tier includes being preemptive on guests’ wants/needs, creating experiences, and unforgettable memories – the saying is always true that people may forget what you do but they won’t forget how you make them feel. Humans are by nature emotional individuals – and hence occasionally irrational but also what makes humanity special; I digress – and our strongest memories are tied – and occasionally distorted <hence also the reason for writing reviews as closely after they occur; your recollection of events immediately after they occur will be more accurate than later> – by emotions. Service in some sense caters to peoples’ emotions; I digress.) Yeah, basically the service is what you’d expect of a well-managed mid-tier hotel. It is friendly and professional, quick and responsive, with effortless and hassle-free check-in and check-out and billing.

(The nice thing about franchise hotels is the consistency, safety and honesty. With Best Western hotels you can always/usually expect a clean and comfortable room with honest operators and friendly/good service even though all Best Western hotels are individually owned and operated. When you venture into your mom-and-pops hotel, you don’t get the same consistency and safety – there is the possibility of being over-billed or under-served… hence I find when looking for the best cheap hotel, it is generally safer and better to find a franchised best value hotel in a city. That way you can have some consistency, safety, and franchise minimum standards – if anything goes wrong, you can typically raise the issue at the brand level if it’s a franchised hotel; if you’re booking a best cheap hotel that is a “boutique” or independent branded and issues arise with your stay or billing, you don’t have much other redress available. Often it’s not an issue but much as an insurance policy, it provides peace of mind and assurance from unexpected events.)

Oh yeah, so about pricing and the best value hotel in Abbotsford – the Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre – has the amenities of a 3.5-star hotel and a complementary full breakfast – but the prices are often paired to other properties around the 2-star hotel category like the Ramada (which honestly I’m not even going to try – Ramada doesn’t have very stringent or consistent brand standards and often fall short of basic expectations OR can also be functionally good however on a total-sum, it isn’t worth the risk booking with Ramada unless they have excellent property reviews for that specific property. More often than not, Ramada is not a hotel brand you want to be staying at, in my opinion. Some hotels can be very run down, moldy, smoke-filled dumps basically and still be kept in the franchise brand. In contrast, Best Western has very strict brand standards and categorizes their franchised properties such as Best Western Plus or Best Western or Sure Stay by Best Western from higher to lower property standards but still with a bare minimum baseline even for their Sure Stay properties that I find higher than Ramada. After reading the reviews of Ramada in Abbotsford, I didn’t even want to give it the benefit of the doubt or try it out for the purpose of an article – at 4/10 rating on OTAs  – generally, if you’re booking a cheap hotel and you don’t want to worry about your accommodation choice, I’d avoid booking anything bellow 7/10 rating on Online Travel Agencies <OTA> sites like Expedia/Hotels.com or Priceline/Booking.com. On an aggregate, their ratings are truly indicative of what you will experience – namely, to leave a review on these sites you MUST actually book the hotel on these sites. There’s no way for a dishonest resort/hotel owner to hire a reputation/PR/marketing agency to distort their reviews like perhaps some might on Google Reviews or even Trip Advisor. So the number on these OTAs are often representative of the experience you can expect. Keep in mind as well that hotels will often pay a commission of around 30% so nobody in the right mind will waste 30% in fees to boost their ratings unnaturally.

A slight tangent – While uncommon, I know of a “resort” owner who can be fairly unscrupulous and short-term profits focused in business dealings – during COVID19 when international travel was restricted hence increasing demand for local travel and subsequently prices, they cancelled all bookings <and tried to have customers re-book at higher prices. Evidently this brought a flood of negative reviews, and they haven’t dealt with it in the most ethical manner… (subsequently due to their negative reviews; despite having an a relatively good product in a nice location and pretty good service – from employees rather than management… their occupancy rate during summer at subsequent years were 30-40% whereas most hotels make their profit during summer, they were losing money – I knew of the situation as I was going to help them fix their reviews ethically until I decided not to fulfill the contract when realizing I may end up deceiving prospective guests of the potential mishaps they may find themselves in due to the short-term focused haphazard management; namely I recall one incident where a guests’ room had a broken water heater, the owner instructed his employee to go to Costco and buy a new one and put the old spoiled one back in and return it saying it was spoiled then claiming that’s what they always do. If they cut corners and deceive on those small things, there’s no telling what mishaps can happen even if by and large the experience by many are fine. Thankfully at the Best Western Regency Inn And Conference Centre I did not observe such cheapness or cost-cutting but rather lenient and generous behaviour across the board. Take for example the breakfast buffet, they diligently and promptly refill any item that is running low all the way up till 10 AM; literally even if you come down at 9:50 AM, they are filling up food to make sure guests coming up to 10 AM – the stated hours – get a fresh and full breakfast.) perhaps this is the reason for my digressing about the cautions of independently owned and branded properties when looking for a cheap/best-value hotel as we will likely be categorizing the Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre in when completing our list of the best hotels in Abbotsford.

Basically the Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre is a cheap hotel but it is not a “cheap” hotel you might expect with budget airlines cramming you like sardines (On another tangent – Truthfully in terms of hotels, during peak season like summer – you get better value booking luxury-tier hotels. These hotels price their rooms pretty much consistently during the peak and low seasons with a very marginal difference – so during summer periods you get pretty much the same price as the low season whereas mid-tier and budget hotels will have vast variance during their peak and low season rates and during the peak season where some 2 or 3 star hotels can even be only 20-30% cheaper than a 5-star hotel because of the high demand… budget and mid-tier hotels cater to families which often travel during peak periods hence also higher demand and higher prices whereas luxury hotels are fairly consistent in pricing all year round. Dollar for dollar, you get better bang for your buck booking a 5-star hotel during the peak periods than a 2 or 3 star hotel comparatively during the low period the variance between luxury and budget tier can be 300% more for luxury to budget travel.). It’s cheap in that prices I have found are paired to the lowest rates in the area such as the Ramada but you get . It is a value orientated hotel.

Of course, this may not always last – but at present of writing this article, the Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre I’ve observed have always paired their prices to the prices for lower-rated properties in Abbotsford while delivering far surpassed valued. Hence, it is truly the best cheap hotel in Abbotsford or the best value hotel in Abbotsford.

You want to provide good value to guests in the mid-tier properties which can sometimes convert to goodwill or brand value surplus but they could also increase their room-rates and

What You Need to Know about Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre:

Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre in Review:

To sum it up, the Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre is a VERY WELL managed 3.5 Star Hotel and you should have no concerns booking at the Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre

Yes, there are some hip cups and your experience may not be perfect, but they are very responsive to customer concerns and feedback (as you can see with all their replies to their reviews on both OTAs, Trip Advisor, and Google Reviews) which clearly shows a commitment to customer service and customer experiences. This means, you can be assured – if any issues arise during your stay that you can expect your concerns to be duly addressed and fixed during or after your stay.

Nothing can’t be fixed with excellent customer service in the hospitality industry. The willingness and motivation to fix a problem for guests can solve many issues that guests may encounter on their stay at a hotel in Abbotsford for anywhere for that matter.

Hence, when booking hotels in a city – if you find a management team that responds to their reviews online respectfully and responsively – you can generally be assured that you’d be safe choosing that hotel for your business or leisure travels. The responsiveness shows they care about the customer experience and customer satisfaction (along with their reputation) and importantly that they consider customer feedback to improve their business operations for future guests.

It’s much more assuring to book at a hotel in Abbotsford where guests can be sure that the hotel cares about the guests’ experiences and feedback – and hence more likely to address and improve guest experience than not.

As all Best Westerns are independently owned, this is not always consistent with all Best Westerns – while you can generally expect a clean and comfortable room when booking at Best Western franchise hotels – the service standards and attentiveness of management team can vary.  The Best Western Plus Regency Inn & Conference Centre is a sure choice if you’re looking for a cheap/good-value hotel in Abbotsford, BC. You can expect good customer service, modern rooms, and great value in our opinion (at present). Should any issues arise during your stay, you can expect your concerns to be addressed and used to improve their operations.
